Splendid oil on canvas depicting a scene with Christ Mocked, during the first half of the 17th century, probably executed by a Flemish painter working in northern Italy, in particular it is possible that it is a painter active in Lombardy. The painting shows the skills and qualities of execution of this painter, who certainly adhered to the stylistic current of Caravaggism, and has been able to well balance the figures represented, which are, thus, irradiated by a frontal light that stands out on the characters that emerge from the total darkness of the background. The painting is in excellent condition, it has an antique frame from the late seventeenth century, lacquered in faux marble. The measurements of the canvas are 64cm x 84cm; the external measurements to the frame are 80cm x 101cm. We attach to the sale a guarantee certificate that certifies its age and authenticity, provided by our antique gallery.
