Another version of this plate, by Louis Haghe after David Roberts, is housed in the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Louis Haghe (1806-1885), a Belgian watercolor painter and printmaker, collaborated closely with David Roberts on a series of lithographs depicting scenes from Roberts' travels, particularly his journeys to the Middle East, including Egypt. Haghe was responsible for translating Roberts' sketches and paintings into lithographic prints, thus making them accessible to a wider audience, including Queen Victoria, subscriber number one, who possessed a complete set that is still part of the Royal Collection.
