Egon Schiele (Tulln, 1890 ¨C Wien, 1918) was a very famous Austrian painter and one of the most important exponents in the early XX century. His artworks are famous especially for their intensity and their sensuality; the artist produced a lot of portraits, including naked self-portraits. He can be considered one of the most important exponents of Expressionist movement for the bodies and for the expressive contour lines. In 1909, he abandoned the Academy of Fine Arts and founded the Neukunstgruppe with some friends. In 1910, he moved to a little village with the model Wally Neuzil, looking for inspiration. Schiele's work has been considered pornographic, disturbing and focused on sex: this caused some troubles for the artist during his life. In 1914, Edith Harms became his wife and his muse. She has been described in some famous artwork of the artist.
