The artist has been fascinated by geology, ever since her youth in the flat Midwest. She did this painting after a trip to Hawaii, where she was able to hike over lava beds, and see molten lava from afar. This acrylic painting is on gallery wrapped canvas, with black painted edges. It is signed on the front, lower right, and has a UV protective varnish. It is wired and ready to hang. Laurie MacMillan has enjoyed numerous awards and solo exhibitions, and has had pieces selected for over a hundred juried group shows. Her work is held in personal and business collections across the U.S., and in Canada and England.
