Mario Molinari, Idaspe, 1920s, Watercolor Drawing On Cardboard

Chairish

$1,717

Idaspe is original drawing in watercolor on cardboard realized by M. Molinari in 1923 ca., as scenography for the representation of Heliodorus of Emesa's "The Ethiopians". The state of preservation of the artwork is good except for some diffused foxing along the margins. Titled on the lower right. The artwork represents the King Idaspe, standing with a golden spear and traditional costume, through soft strokes, with depicted skillfully by harmonious and congruous colors and well-defined costume details. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
