with a fascination for textures and repeating patterns, Mats Wieslander takes us to a world of nordic abstract motifs that bring to mind the structures of nature. from the permanent in nature like rocks and mountains to the fleeting like a wave or weather changes. Mats has painted with photographic precision in previous years but has over the years moved on to explore the abstract world of art. The materials and techniques are varied, ranging from sheet metal to oil-cured board and linen canvas, the colors are usually acrylic and ink. The frames are handmade in iron or as a surface-treated oak frame. The art customers are usually interested in design and interior design and many times custom-made works of art are created in the home in collaboration with the customer. The creative process: The sheet metal is left to rust outdoors near the coast in Gothenburg, Sweden. The salty, humid winds accelerate the process. The motifs are then created with artist acrylic and ink in different colors on the sheet metal. Special handmade tools are often used instead of a brush. The frames are handmade in iron and have small distances from the wall (20 mm) to provide interesting shading against the wall. The frames therefore have a blue-gray flamed tone of pure iron but the front edge of the frame is highly polished.
