This is an original 1968 offset lithograph poster for the Merce Cunningham and Dance Company, designed by the artist Jasper Johns based on his iconic 1955 Target Series (Target with Four Faces). Signed in pencil in the lower portion of the poster. The poster was created as a limited edition print, with an edition size of around 1,000 copies, to benefit the dance company. John's and Cunningham were friends and contemporaries of the avant-garde art scene. The poster comes from a Kip's Bay, New York City estate and was purchased in the mid-1980s.Good overall condition with no visible tears, rips or restorations. Some minor creases on the outer margins. No visible foxing or staining. The colors are still very vibrant. The piece was rolled up and in its original cardboard tube.The poster measures approximately 23" wide x 35" high.
