This stunning etching reproduction depicts a monument dedicated to Guillaume le May, governor of Paris in the 15th century. The print is titled "Guillaume le May, capitaine de six-vingts archers du roy, et gouverneur de la ville de Paris, gravé sur pierre vers 1480 (Guillaume le May, captain of 120 archers of the king and governor of Paris, engraved on stone around 1480). This print is part of a larger book by the artist Nicolas Xavier Willemin (1763-1833), titled Monuments français inédits pour servir à l'histoire des arts depuis le VIe siècle jusqu'au commencement du XVIIe, published in 1839. I have several of these beautiful etchings listed and these would make a stunning wall display grouping.
