Mid 20th Century Hoi Lebadang (1922-2015) Still Life Lithograph Signed Floral Candles Vietnamese French Art

This is a beautiful signed lithograph by Hoi Lebadang, depicting a luminous still life with a floral arrangement and candleholder rendered in richly layered tones of turquoise, cobalt, and fiery orange. The composition carries the dreamlike, textural quality for which Lebadang became internationally recognized, blending abstraction with recognizable forms in a way that feels both atmospheric and deeply poetic. Pencil signed “Hoi” at lower right and numbered from an edition of 275 at lower left, the work is professionally matted in a striking burnt-orange presentation that beautifully complements the vivid palette of the print. Vietnamese-born French artist Hoi Lebadang, also known simply as “Hoi,” emigrated to France in 1939 and later studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse. By the 1950s, his work had gained recognition in Paris for its synthesis of Eastern and Western artistic traditions, and he would go on to exhibit internationally, including at the Cincinnati Art Museum in 1966. Lebadang became especially celebrated for his expressive printmaking, favoring lithography, etching, and serigraphy alongside his highly textured mixed-media paintings. His works are held in numerous important collections and are admired for their evocative imagery of flowers, landscapes, horses, and meditative interior scenes. This work is being sold unframed. Mat size: 24"W x 18"H (lithograph sheet is 22"W x 15"H)
