Store Item: WILLIAM FREDERICK FOSTER Oil Painting Fall Harvest Still Life Post Impressionist Description: Still Life Oil on Canvas Painting by fame artist William Frederick Foster. Painting features a Fall Harvest Still Life of a Horn of Plenty with a large Orange Squash, Green Apples and Onions with a dark background. Artist: William Frederick Foster studied at the Cincinnati Academy, at William Merritt Chase's New York School of Art in New York from 1918 to 1920. He began his career as an illustrator with art published in The Saturday Evening Post, Cosmopolitan, Harper and Red Book. Foster served in World War I in Paris with the American Ambulance Service and army camouflage units. During his career as a painter, Foster's specialties were still lifes and portratis. He received the academy's Clarke Prize in 1926, and prizes from the Salmagundi Club in 1921 and 1937. Foster's career took him to Los Angeles were he worked with Willy Progany on a mural project at the Hearst Estate in Wyntoon, California. Foster was an honorary lifetime member of the California Art Club. Condition Report: Beautiful painting has some craquelure and lightly visible stretcher marks.
