This Mimmo Rotella rare vintage 1979 Dumont Art calendar lithograph print Pop Art poster " Cinema E Publicita " 1963, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection. The lithograph print is a page from a large format art calendar published by Dumont Art, printed in an unnumbered limited edition in West Germany in 1979, in association with Universe Books New York City. It features a Pop Art artwork originally created by by the Italian artist Mimmo Rotella in 1963 titled " Cinema E Publicita ", image courtesy of Galerie Zwirner, Koln copyright Mimmo Rotella. Domenico " Mimmo " Rotella ( 1918 - 2006 ) was an Italian artist considered an important figure in post war Euro pean Modern Art. best known and recognized for his works of decollage and psychogeographics, made from torn advertising posters. Decollage is a technique of collage with the opposite method. Instead of adding elements to the work, it starts from a complete image from which parts are removed and detached. This concept of decollage is associated with Rotella's influence of the New Dada movement. Artworks by Rotella are included in the permanent collections of many of the worlds most prestigious museums including The Guggenheim Museum New York, Museo D'Arte Contemporanea Rome, Museum Ludwig Koln, Centre Pompidou Paris, National Gallery of Art Washington, The Tel Aviv Museum, The Tate London, among ,among many others. The rare out of print lithograph calendar print Pop Art poster measures 19 1/4" W X 23" H, with an image area of 17 1/8" W X 13 1/2" H. It is in very good vintage condition consistent with age use, and some visible light signs of handling and wear in the margin areas. It has never been framed.
