Charming miniature nautical coastal watercolor painting circa 1910 - 1920 depicting a rocky beach shoreline with seagulls and a distant sailing ship on the horizon. Presumed to be American in origin, possibly depicting the New England or Pacific Northwest regions. Recently re-framed with all acid-free materials in a period turn-of-the-century giltwood frame including old wavy glass. We love how the texture of the gold frame mimics the surface texture of the boulders in the painting. Painting is signed with initials at lower left, though the artist is unknown to us. The watercolor has some faint toning noticed in the upper area of the sky when you look very closely. Also to note are the several straw marks and waves in the glass indicative of the age of the glass. View area of work measures 7" wide x 4.75" tall. Measures 11 3/8" wide x 8.75" tall including frame.
