Their long-sleeved dresses with ribbon-cinched waists, broad sun hats, and the black umbrellas suggest the artist was imagining a late 19th-century or early 20th-century beach scene. Signed and painted by Sallie Carlson of Lawrenceville, Georgia. It is in its original gold-painted wood and linen frame.
