This is a stunning, subtle painting from Sax Berlin that evokes the phrase used by Jean-Michel Basquiat. Berlin's interpretation of the quotation draws on his own personal knowledge of Basquiat from the time they were contemporaries in 1980's New York and his Neo-Expressionist style is a perfect vehicle for the piece. In this painting there is an evocation of both Basquiats tragic life and the vicissitudes of the 21st Century. Thoughtful, contemplative and beautiful; a reflection on canvas that photographic representation can only hint at. Oil and Acrylic 24" x 30"
