For this work I borrowed my housemates small Monstera plant, as her room is full of sunlight in which everything there grows lushly. Figurative work for me demands to be drawn from life, somehow when drawing from mind I can’t quite get the details and imperfections that entice me. The semi-abstract nature of this piece shows the deep work into abstract research, combined with detailed figurative studies. Vibrant bright colours are favoured in this palette, reflecting the artists’s personal relationship with colour.
