An original watercolor painting on paper by John Pedder, R.I., British artist 1850-1929, "Near Hurley on Thames" scene of two white swans in the Thames River, a large, old tree to the right bank, several large old homes and out buildings to the background (northwest of Maidenhead), 8" x 11 5/8", signed in the lower right corner front, inscribed on reverse - Near Hurley on Thames. CA number 3984, CA purchased winter of 2026 from a regional British auction house. The painting was execute ca 1900. The painting has been lightly surface cleaned. It has been re-matted with Antique White Museum matboard, gold line, Museum Glass, museum backing and framed in 3/4" original Newcomb Macklin antiqued gold and silver lacquer moulding. John Pedder was a landscape, figure and animal painter in watercolor. He was born and studied in Liverpool and lived in Liverpool, London and Maidenhead. He exhibited works at Agnew & Sons Gallery; the Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham; the Dudley Art Gallery; the Grosvenor Gallery; the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool; the Manchester City Art Gallery; the Royal Academy; the Royal Society of British Artists; the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (member); and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
