His paintings are characterized by warm and bright hues, inspired by the Mediterranean atmosphere of Sardinia (his homeland). His works are held by numerous galleries and museums. Aligi Sassu's work has been offered at auction multiple times. The record price for one of his pieces at auction was 115,412 USD for Paesaggio, sold at Sotheby's Milan in 2006.
