An original vintage oil on board painting circa Early - Cid 20th Century. We believe the artist to be from Chicago, with the name C. A. Gage. The artist signed the painting on the back and titled it "In the Children's Room". We get the Chicago connection from one other work we were able to find online (with the same title/signature/color hues) which has part of the label showing the word Chicago. At least the board was manufactured in Chicago, but possibly the artist was from there as well. That other work is titled "Subway Entrance". Our piece is painted in hues of gray and features a set of children sitting around a table. In the background is a wide and ample library of books. Some of the children are reading, a couple of them are chatting, and one boy is about to join in. There's an adult woman in the back who might be a librarian? A chandelier hangs above lighting the scene. Circa: Early - Mid 20th Century Artist: C. A. Gage Medium: Oil on board Condition: Consistent with age and wear. See photos Dimensions: 9" W x 12 1/2" H
