Painter and printmaker Weyman Michael Lew was born in San Francisco, California, on February 17, 1935. He studied at the University of California, Berkeley (BS, 1957), and at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1965 to 1966 under Jay deFeo. His works may be seen in public collections such as the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum; the Oakland Museum; the Achenbach Foundation for the Graphic Arts at the California Palace of Legion of Honor; the Brooklyn Museum, the Santa Barbara Museum; the University Art Museum in Berkeley; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern.
