$195

A lot of two very beautiful late 19th century chromolithographs Both are depicting romantic couples and are made by E. Blaas in 1894 "Art Supplements to the NY Recorder" after oil paintings of Federico Andreotti One is a Classical pastoral scene, eventually called "Wooing" The setting of the other is more recent, 17th-18th century and it is known as "Wilt Thou Be Mine" Federico Andreotti (1847-1930), Italian genre painter, was born in Florence and received his artistic training at the Academy in Florence. His academic studies prepared him well for his chosen subject matter - historical figurative works set in the 16th and 17th centuries attires. In the late 1800's there was a resurgence of interest in this period of elegance and many artists looked to satisfy the growing need for these works. Andreotti's paintings were sought after by American and European collectors alike and during the late 19th century he received an important commission from the King of Italy. He exhibited a number of paintings at the Royal Academy in London from 1879 to 1883. Andreotti combined his technical precision, with the new theories on color and technique that were being explored by the Impressionists. His paintings often feature large figures created with a colorful palette and open brush stroke, while keeping true to the academic traditions of anatomical correctness. Both Lithos are first edition from the 1894 period, NOT LATER RE-STRIKES! The scenes are very charming and exhibit vivid, strong original colors Measurements: Approx. the smaller: 18" x 12" the sheet; 14.25" x 8.25" the scene // the larger: 19.5" x 12" the sheet; 15.75" x 8.25" the scene Weighs about 1 lb. together Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. Both images are in very good original condition with bold colors. They will display wonderfully when framed and newly matted. The original back cardboards show discoloration, the corner of the pastoral scene is missing, but once again - the scenes are unharmed and very well preserved!
