Pair Of Framed Pablo Picasso Thumbprint Lithographic Originals ~ Paloma & Claude, 1960s

Chairish

$4,750

**These artworks are being sold as is with no Guarantees to the authenticity of the signature ** This is a very nice pair of thumbprint lithographs, known as "Paloma & Claude" by Pablo Picasso. 1950-1960s. Reframed in the 1990s. (Please see provenance of details below). Originally there were sold to be used as book covers and were cut into 2 prints. These prints are on thick stock paper and framed and matted under glass. Both are pencil signed on the original matting lower right "Picasso". The boy (Claude, darker print) is signed on left "Lithographic Originals Portrait De Son Fils" and the girl (Paloma, lighter print) is signed lower left Lithographic originals". There is some yellowing to paper on both pieces and matting. No other printers marks are found or signatures under matting. There are no visible dots on the artwork meaning they are not reproduced prints. Please use the photos included and more photos can be sent if needed) Art works measure under matting 9.5 X 12 inches. Frame itself measures 26 X 29 inches. Provenance & Details: These prints were purchased by my clients father sometimes in the 1960s, location unknown but possibly in Europe somewhere. They were displayed is his house until they were reframed in the 1990s. After my clients father passed away, these stayed with the estate until I acquired them last month. In my research, the "P" used in Picasso as well as Portrait, is an identical P Pablo Picasso has used in his writings, just not in his signature. (please refer to uploaded photo) I have contacted all the major auction houses as well as a few art brokers in the UK. None of them with any certainty can authenticate the signatures as being made by Picasso. On a side note, they did not mention them to be fraudulent either. The only way to have his signature truly confirmed is through his family in France via direct contact, which I did and unfortunately they do not verify prints or engravings and would authenticate the signature due to this fact. Please see photo of examples of Picassos "P" he used in a confirmed authentic documents over the years.
