A pair of vintage limited edition lithographs on paper by Federico Righi (Italian, 1908–1986), from the series Ovidius: Ars Amatoria (Ovid: the Art of Love) dating to the late 20th century, likely circa 1970s. Righi is represented in auction records as an Italian painter and printmaker, with multiple graphic works and lithographs documented on the secondary market. One lithograph depicts a reclining nude woman with a white bull standing behind her in a highly imaginative, symbolist landscape. Pencil inscription at lower margin reads: “... roamed a snow-white bull, glory and pride of the herd.” The sheet is additionally annotated “Selected for the edition of 100.” The second lithograph depicts a cropped female nude viewed from the back, rendered in Righi’s loose, expressive linear style with a warm tonal ground.
