Signed, lower right, 'Shinbo' for Shinbo Minami (Japanese, born 1947) and titled, verso, 'Paris' and dated July 4, 1984. A particularly elegant Parisian cityscape showing Notre Dame and the Île de la Cité viewed from the Left Bank. Unusually elegant, block color work combined with a strong compositional sense and volume description make for a successful work by this listed Japanese Modernist and member of the Tokyo Illustrators Society. Shinbo Minami first studied at the Bigakko Alternative Art School in Tokyo, under Akasegawa Genpei, in 1969 and later became associated with the Anti-Art movement.
