BIO: Peter Graham was born in Glasgow in 1959. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art between 1976 and 1980, obtaining a BA Hons Degree. In 1990 he became the British Council Artist in Residence in Singapore and served as Advisor for the Visual Arts to the Scottish Arts Council from 1994-6. He was elected a full member of the ROI in 2001 and is currently a member of the ROI Council. Recently he has concentrated his efforts on flower painting, to the extent that he is now a published writer on the subject. It is through the deliberate repetition of this motif that Peter finds the greatest searching development of himself as a painter. With the subject a relative constant Peter experiments with a more flamboyant and courageous style and palette, leading him to be heralded as one of Britain's most gifted and distinctive Modern Colourists. He has exhibited at venues as near Broadway and as far as Singapore, New York, and Bermuda, but predominantly in London and Scotland. On numerous occasions this has been with the RSMA, the RI and the ROI at the Mall Galleries, winning the Winsor and Newton Prize for a non-member in 1999.
