A petite French Nude en Plein Aire. This post-impressionistic oil on canvas is expertly composed of a loose patchwork of bold brushstrokes. The little figure rests on a blanket of red and white against a landscape in every shade of green. Framed in a thin silver molding it measures 11 x 14.5 (10 x 13.5 painting itself), it is initialed W.V. in the bottom right corner. The silver leaf of the frame is slightly stripped at the edges, revealing the red underpainting which perfectly complements the red details in the painting.
