Philip Pearlstein Model On Orange And Black Mexican Rug 1973 Original Limited Edition Lithograph, Signed

Chairish

$2,650

Signed, numbered 76/100 and dated ‘73 in pencil on the lower right 34”W x 24.63”H Excellent condition, Lithograph in 5 colors on cream wove paper printed and published by Landfall Press with their blindstamp, Unframed This rarely available and prized original limited edition print was created by Philip Pearlstein in 1973. It’s an exceptional example of what he’s renowned for: realist nudes with a cool modernist sensibility in complex, highly thought out compositions, abrupt cropping of the image, and a consummate technical mastery in the execution of the work. All of these characteristics come together beautifully and to great effect in this print. Today, half a century after it was created, many of the 100 from this edition are in the permanent collections of museums, such as The Art Institute of Chicago, Princeton University Art Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, et al. This print is in excellent condition, a strong impression with bright colors highlighting the dazzling, vibrant rendering of the Mexican rug and the sensitive nuanced tonality in the modeling of the nude.
