Copper engraving of the capture of the fortified town of Gibraltar in 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession by an Anglo–Dutch naval force led by Sir George Rooke and Prince George of Hesse-Darmstadt. Originates from 'Schouwburg van den oorlog' by P. Schenk. This print was originally part of a larger sheet with nine prints. Artists and Engravers: Pieter Schenk / Petrus Schenck ( 1660-1718/19) was born in Germany, but settled in Amsterdam where he first became a pupil of Gerard Valck, the engraver.
