Image dimensions: 10.1 x 13.9 cm. Port of New Orleans is a black and white xylograph on paper, realized in 1890 by Holland Tringham. Of little dimensions but high quality, this original print represents a glimpse of the Mississipi river on the Port of New Orleans with ships offshore and fishing boats docked at the quay. Signed and dated on plate on lower right corner. In excellent conditions, this beautiful modern artwork realized with a balanced composition and a rapid line, is mounted in a white cardboard passepartout, cm 24 x 30. Joseph Holland Tringham (London, 1861 London – Douglas, isle of man, 1908) The prolific English artist is well known as an illustrator, with his work appearing in several periodicals such as the London Illustrated News. He received royal patronage, exhibited at the Royal Academy. His early life was spent in the Royal Navy, where he would enjoy himself sketching caricatures of his colleagues.He was also commissioned to paint the portraits of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. In 1905—1906 he accompanied the Prince and Princess of Wales on their tour of India. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
