Signed lower left 'H. R. Williams' for Homer Ross Williams (American, and painted circa 1925. A psychologically penetrating, early twentieth century, figural oil painting of a bearded young man with bright eyes and a candid gaze, shown dressed in biblical clothing with his unruly hair held back by a braided hemp headband. Displayed in an attractive, incised and water-gilded frame of the period. Framed Size: 25 x 20 x 2 inches. Homer Ross Williams studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles (1926) and subsequently worked as an artist and commercial artist in Los Angeles in the 1930's and 1940's.
