Each piece is an original work by artist Garrett Knoll, printed and framed by hand in Brooklyn, New York. The image is printed on site and the frame is custom-built by hand. The result is an archival pigment print (giclée) on lustre photographic paper, set in a walnut frame with an elevated float mount. Every piece ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, professionally packaged to arrive in perfect condition. Hotel Puerta América, with its exterior facade designed by Jean Nouvel, stands on Avenida de América in Madrid, Spain. Completed in 2005, the hotel is known for its collaboration of nineteen international architects and designers, each given free rein over a single floor.
