Born in caserta (1870 – naples 1959), a law graduate, he abandoned the toga in 1900 to move to naples and devote himself entirely to painting. He experimented with different styles, from impressionism, which led him to paint “en plein air,” to caricature sketches, finally arriving at a formal synthesis obtained with the use of few colors, maintaining a more analytical vision of reality. Linked by friendship with the landscape painter f. Rossano, he participated in the circolo artistico politecnico di napoli and the “salvator rosa” society for the promotion of fine arts. The artist is included in the general catalogue of cultural heritage of the italian ministry of culture (2019) with several works, including “the mask factory”, “the mill”, and “caricature of paolo de notaristefani”. this still life, featuring a vase of colorful flowers, harks back to the late impressionist style, interpreting it with a joyful neapolitan twist through the juxtaposition of a few bright colors.
