Raphael Senseman was a well-known and respected New Jersey artist. His works were primarily of the South Jersey woods, waterways, and the changing seasons. From 1893-1898, Senseman painted label designs for the Campbell Soup Co. By 1906, he had moved to Collingswood, NJ to open his own studio. He had a well-established routine to paint two paintings per week and then sell them door-to-door. His paintings proved to be very popular with the public. He later held numerous exhibitions of his works. Senseman's works can be found in museums in the mid-Atlantic region.
