Rare Rupert Jasen Smith Large Original Screenprint Augmented With Diamond Dust, Signed, #7/25, 1981

Chairish

$4,450

This is a very rare large format augmented screenprint by legendary printmaker and artist, Rupert Jasen Smith. This fabulous piece features multiple layered colored abstract screenprint designs with the artist's signature diamond dust treatment applied to the surface. The piece is signed on the rear, numbered 7/25, and dated 1981. When framed, this rare piece will look amazing and would be a bold and exciting focal point to your room. The work is large, measuring 40" x 59.5", and is on very thick paper and would be best shipped flat via Chairish in-home shipping. The piece is in very good condition with some minor edge wear from storage. It doesn't appear to have ever been framed. There are a few staple holes on one edge, probably from production. These can be seen from the rear, but not from the front (see last image). Rupert Jasen Smith is best known as the principle printer and collaborator of Andy Warhol. Many of the famous Warhol pieces you know were actually made by Rupert. However, he was a well-regarded artist in his own right but, tragically, his career was cut short by his death from AIDS in 1989 at the age of 37. There is a really great essay on Rupert at revolverwarholgallery.com/the-invisible-genius-of-rupert-jasen-smith .
