Provenance: Dualitie Gallery, Larchmont, NY An art deco study of a woman, with her hair in the style of Josephine Baker, shown reclining on cushions in a lightly sketched interior and gazing with candor directly towards the viewer. This New York painter and muralist was born in Scotland and studied under Robert Henri, John Sloan and George Bellows at the Art Students League of New York and, later, in Paris at the Salon d'Automne. Sparrow exhibited widely and with success including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Architectural League of New York, the Brooklyn Museum, the Salons of America and with the Society of Independent Artists. His murals can be found in the private collections of various mining companies including the Trebor Corporation (Mariposa, CA), H.C. Dudley (Ontario, Canada), in the city of Duluth, Minnesota and abroad in Mexico.
