The White Arab is an etching on ivory-colored paper realized after an etching by Rembrandt dated 1630. This specimen belongs to a late edition of the 19th century. Good conditions with some foxing. Superb etching through deft strokes, strong mastery in expression through an impression of virtuous old master's touch. Rembrandt known simply as Rembrandt (Leiden, 15 July 1606 - Amsterdam, 4 October 1669), was a Dutch painter and engraver. He is generally considered to be one of the greatest painters in European art history. Having achieved great success as a portrait painter from a young age. His drawings and paintings were already popular during his lifetime. Rembrandt's greatest creative triumphs are especially evident in the portraits of his contemporaries, his self-portraits, and illustrations of scenes from the Bible. In both painting and printing, he exhibited a thorough knowledge of classical iconography.
