Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte ( 1898 - 1967 ) The world famous Belgian Surrealist artist became well known for creating witty and thought provoking images. Often depicting objects in an unusual context. His work known fo challenging observers' preconditioned perceptions of reality. His imagery has influenced Pop, Minimalist, and Conceptual Art. The vintage lithograph print features an artwork image originally created by Magritte in 1939 titled " The Poetic World ". The lithograph print is printed in Japan in 1974. It is a page from an authentic vintage artists publication. The lithograph print plate is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached by hand on 3 corners. The print image measures 7 7/8" W X 10 1/8" H, on a page that is 9 1/4" W X 12" H. There is unrelated text on the reverse back side of the page that refers to a different artwork image.
