Robert Saurwein, Prozession, 1940s, Pencil, Framed

Chairish

$475

This artwork is a colored woodcut titled “Prozession” (Procession) by the Austrian artist Robert Saurwein (1907-1942). Robert Saurwein, born in Innsbruck, was a printmaker famous for his lively woodcuts of Tyrolean landscapes and mountain scenes. The image depicts a group of believers in traditional Tyrolean clothing walking through a mountain landscape, often carrying a crucifix. The work is signed in pencil with the text “Rob Saurwein Tirol” on the right and “Prozession” on the left. The painting has a wood veneer mat. This has bulged slightly in the bottom corner. The colored woodcut itself is in good vintage condition. This Saurwein painting is 25.5 cm high, 21.5 cm wide, and 1.3 cm deep. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs, designer records, or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
