Salvador Dalí “Calderón De La Barca” Signed Etching With Justification Page, 1966/1975

Chairish

$3,250

Offered is a rare, original etching by Salvador Dalí titled Calderón de la Barca, from the suite La Vida es Sueño (Life is a Dream), a tribute to the legendary Spanish playwright. Executed in rich sanguine ink, this piece blends Dalí’s surrealist flair with classical portraiture. The print is both hand-signed in pencil by Dalí and plate signed, and it is printed on Arches Tinte paper. This etching is numbered 63 of only 75 examples, as confirmed by the included original Justification du Tirage sheet, which is also hand-signed by Salvador Dalí. Published by E. Subirana, S.A., Barcelona in 1975, the etching itself bears the in-plate date of 1966, indicating its original creation date. This work is catalogued in Albert Field’s Official Catalogue Raisonné of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dalí (Field 73-1, pages 138–141). While a separate Certificate of Authenticity is not included, the signed justification page provides authoritative provenance. The piece was acquired at auction from a private estate in the Netherlands and has been carefully preserved since. A striking and collectible piece from one of the 20th century’s most iconic artists.
