This portrait offers a commentary on education, challenging conventional ideas of what learning is and how learners are expected to behave within formal institutions. The figure appears casually dressed, positioned against a library interior traditionally regarded as a sacred space that holds knowledge (the latter is represented in abstract form on the shelves). Her cookbook is a metaphor for the personally curated recipes of her life, which is a work in progress. This work questions inherited hierarchies of learning and proposes education as a personal, evolving process, prompting us to ask what is truly worth learning, and how learning might be better adapted to the learner.
