Portrait is an original china ink drawing realized by Serge Fontinsky (1887-1971) in the half of the 20th Century. Good condition, minor cosmetic wear. Hand-signed on the lower margin. Serge Fontinsky (1887-1971). Painter, watercolorist, engraver, illustrator. In 1903 he finished his studies in Odessa. In 1904 he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg. As a painter, he benefited from the friendship of André Derain, who expressed to him in writing several times the admiration he felt for his work, attaching it to the Paris school of the interwar period, Fauvism and cubism bygone, but still debtor of Cezanne. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
