Hokusai's snowy landscape at Mukojima along the Sumida River is similar to his pupil Katsushika Isai's fan painting, seen on the right. At the lower right of Hokusai's print is a small shrine, the Umewaka Jinja, dedicated to a little boy who was kidnapped and died there in ancient times.
