How does a painting happen? It takes more time conceiving it, thinking about it and visualising it than the act of painting itself. The bubbling idea was to paint more rivers, after having painted River Wharf from Wetherby, Yorkshire and River Seine from Giverny, France. I love painting water you see, and the reflections of nature in it. But on one of these walks during the lockdown, one spring evening on my way to Dunham Massey the evening sun was peeping through the leaves. The plum, pink, lime, green and lime yellow coloured leaves drenched in sunlight looked amazing, refracting light through them. Light and nature. I really should either climb the trees or use binoculars to see them up close to have a better idea of how to use the colour and the brush strokes.
