The 255 shares of Ford Motor Company stock owned by Henry Ford represented one-half of the experimental work, contracts, patents, machinery and other assets transferred to the company by the partnership of Henry Ford and Alex Y. Malcomson. It was through this partnership, formed in August, 1902, that Malcomson helped finance Henry Ford's developmental work on the car later produced by Ford Motor Company.
