Summer Sleeping portrays the quiet beauty of a woman at rest, suspended in time as she awaits the turning of the season. The work draws inspiration from Flaming June by Sir Frederic Leighton and belongs to a series influenced by the Masters and Romantic expressionism. My pieces seek to express emotion, state of mind, or fleeting moments by weaving together line, shape, and figure to tell a story — one with a beginning, a middle, and an end. I capture fragments of my own life or reinterpret elements from historical paintings that continue to resonate with the present and offer insight into the future. It is this emotional resonance that lies at the heart of my work.
