This vintage 1885 chromolithograph print from Vanity Fair magazine, a British magazine published from 1868 to 1914. Stylish caricatures of English Gentlemen in Victorian era fashion. Features a caricature titled "The Mito" which depicts Sir George Compton Archibald Arthur, Bart, 1885. Vanity Fair, the well known English weekly, provided interesting social, literary and political features for 46 years from 1868 to 1914 but its greatest legacy are the full page caricatures of famous men and women of the day. “Spy” (Leslie Ward) and “Ape” (Carlo Pellegrini) were two of the most prolific and popular artists who provided the magazine with these delightful illustrations. Each portrait comes with an original biographical commentary that was written by owner and editor, Thomas Gibson Bowles. The caricature was created by Sir Leslie Ward, who used the pseudonym "Spy".
