The Mona Liza, Folk Artist Earl Swanigan's Original Painting Of Elizabeth Taylor

Chairish

$2,200

Much has been written about the late African American Folk Artist Earl King Swanigan (1964-2019) who resided in Hudson, New York for a good part of his creative life. He was often seen on the streets creating his now highly collectible works; and passerby's and local antique dealers and store owners would often buy from him and befriend him; and some built long time friendship with him. One of those was the late artist and antique dealer Mark Wasserbach, who acquired this painting from the artist directly. We ourselves obtained this from Mark in Spring of 2023. We were told, and it's obvious, the painting was of Elizabeth Taylor. And we thought a befitting title of Mona Liza is honoring. We believe the painting speaks for its self. The fact that it's small makes it even more striking, in that it speaks as much as a larger painting would. He was able to deliver a worthy honor to her in such a small size. The frame was also his choice, including the silver nail on the top portion of the frame. Does that allude to something? The painting is oil on board with a black frame. The board measures 8" x 10" and the frame 12" 14". It was not signed, as was often the case with Earl. Artist: Earl King Swanigan (1964-2019) Circa: Early 2000s Condition: Good and consistent with age Dimensions: Board measures 8" x 10" and the frame 12" 14"
