An excellent vintage offset lithograph, print, "The Prophet Muhammad Riding on Buraq Through the Night Sky On His Way To Visit Heaven And Hell". The original Persian painting (in British Museum, London) is a miniature from the manuscript Khamsa of Nizami, 1539-1543. It illustrates an introductory dedication to the Creator prefixed by the poet to the Haft Paykar. The Prophet is attended by a host of angels offering him clothes and food, or burning incense and swinging a censer. Preceeding him is the archangel Gabriel while in the distance below him can be seen the dim shape of this earth. This miniature was attributed by Mr. Binyon to Sultan Muhammad. This offset lithograph comes from an art folio published in Switzerland in 1940. First limited edition. Signed in the print. Printed on one side of heavy paper sheet. It says on the back: "Printed in Switzerland". Numbered at the lower left corner. High-end quality. Excellent condition - never framed.
