The Reluctant Witness is a contemporary limited edition print from my Of a [Familiar] Nature series, created in 2025. Digitally hand-drawn, the work reflects on the relationship between nature and the built world, and on the ways human presence shapes the spaces around us. In this piece, I was thinking about conflict, and the way it can trap and blind those inside it. Birds locked in rivalry, carelessly displaying their ignorance for all to see. The red flies heighten that sense of agitation and disturbance, while the witness at the center remains caught in the uneasy position of seeing clearly without being able to escape what is unfolding. I was interested in the tension between conflict and exposure, and in the way folly can play out within a natural setting that remains indifferent to it. Offered as a limited-edition archival pigment print on paper, framed in a 2" solid white wood frame, in two sizes: 38" x 38" framed, edition of 5; and 26" x 26" framed, edition of 10.
