Subjects for Emilie's work include horses, burros, owls, old farm buildings, ranch gates, and rural mail boxes. Some of her Western works are reproduced on greeting cards by Leanin' Tree Publishing Company, Boulder, Colorado. Her work is in the collection of the Christlieb Foundation, Great Plains Art Collection, Center of the Great Plains, University of Nebraska, Lincoln. In 1974, Touraine won best in show and the directors' award at the Pacific Northwest Indian Center Show and Auction, in Spokane, Washington. Her exhibitions include a 1973 one-person show at the Montana Historical Society, Helena; and paintings in the U.S. Pavilion at Expo '74, Spokane. A number of paintings, which became the Phillip White Hawk Collection of Symbolic America, were dedicated at the Nebraska State Fair, Lincoln, on September 1, 1976.
