Thomas Moran (1827-1926), “A Snowy Mountain Range" (Path of Souls, Idaho), Vintage Chromolithograph, Circa 1920s. Lovely triple-layered antique oak frame with UV glass. Size: Art 20"W x 16" High (inches) Size Framed: 22" Wide x 18" High (inches) The original oil painting for this immaculate 100-year-old chromolithograph is in the Denver Art Museum The mountain featured in this painting is Mount Moran from the Idaho side of the Tetons, which was named in honor of the artist. Moran was involved in many expeditions into the western wilderness, bringing back images of the country that were previously unknown and helping familiarize the public with these places through his artwork. Thomas Moran Bio: Hudson River School Landscape painter., born in England and died in Santa Barbara, Influenced by J.M.W. Turner, Moran is best remembered for his idealized views of the American West. In 1871 he accompanied a government surveying expedition to Yellowstone and was greatly inspired by the landscape; The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (1893–1901) and The Chasm of the Colorado (1872) are two outstanding works.
